The Power of Consent: an essential value in healthy, intimate relationships

February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. This program is presented by Jessica Carson, education programs supervisor at VSC. Topics include

• Concerning harmful, abusive sexual behaviors in intimate relationships 

• How power balances impact consent 

• Understanding sexual coercion, harassment, and assault in relationships 

• Lack of consent as a tool to gain power and control 

• Barriers to disclosing IPV 

• Acquaintance rape and alcohol / drug facilitated assault 

• Increasing / enhancing communication about relationships 

• Encouraging positive sexual communication to reduce IPSV 

This event is a collaboration between The Community Network, Women's Center of Montgomery County, and Victim Services Center of Montgomery County.
