Support Groups for Survivors of Sexual Violence and Other Serious Crimes

In addition to individual counseling, VSC also offers support groups for survivors of violence. Groups ease the pain of isolation and provide the strength for healing. Survivors of violence support each other and work together to move through and beyond the pain of victimization.

Two VSC counselors facilitate each support group. Groups will meet weekly in Montgomery County and have rolling admission. The following support groups are available for clients of VSC:

Adult Female Survivors of Rape

This group offers female rape survivors a space to vent emotions, receive supportive feedback and validation from other survivors, and exchange ideas for coping.

Caretakers of Child Victims of Abuse

The caretakers support group involves psychoeducational workshops that strive to offer caretakers helpful information about child abuse including common indicators of abuse and trauma reactions among children, ways of supporting and talking with your child about his/her victimization, and ideas for coping with your own feelings about your child's abuse. This group is currently on hiatus. If interested, please call and we will keep your information on file.
