History
A group of five women from across Montgomery County, Pennsylvania originally organized VSC as Women Against Rape in 1974 out of concerns about the lack of a sensitive and uniform response to victims of sexual assault. In 1980, recognizing the fact that both men and women are victims and both men and women can contribute to the solution; the agency became the Rape Crisis Center. In 1985, a service to other serious crime victims or a victim/witness program component was added and again the name was changed, this time to: |

With over 29 years of service, VSC has achieved a strong position in the community as a provider of free and confidential supportive services. Without the presence of VSC in the community, crime victims would be left to fend for themselves through a maze of government institutions, court proceedings, and to cope with the trauma of victimization alone.
